This was a national RYA event held in Weymouth, in preparation for the summer season racing. The day before this event we had profiling, to review our fitness levels. The first day was light winds and rather warm for April. The next day was foggy, wet and slightly more windy, we completed no races due to the weather. However it was my 17th birthday so we all went out for a meal to celebrate. Overall I finished the series 6th youth girl, for me it was a good result to start the summer season .
This event is where the selectors review individual performance to see how each sailor has developed during winter training. This enables selection to Youth Squad, these are the sailors who will be invited to represent UK at international competitions. Unfortunately I wasn’t selected for the RS;X Youth Squad, however I did still attend the international regattas with the T1 Squad, having an amazing experience at both the European and World Championships.
